why are xmen the only mutants which get special powers?

quick selection of sketches. We're expected to hand in our sketchbooks this year so im having to scan everything i think interesting. Wether they will appreciate naked harlequin ladies with burny arms and teeny pants is another matter. Its being uploaded here because..gah, might as well. probably be moved to scraps later, but hey.
the standing child freaks me tbh, it wouldnt be able to stand like that if it was real, i sure as heck wouldnt want to open my door and find something like that standing there D:.
ohh..and if you havent heard of heard of harlequin type ichthyosis, which this is based on ( MY GOD IM BECOMING MORBID..ER) i'd uhm...not really reccomend you go looking for pictures of sufferers if you've got a weak stomach. Its basically an extreme skin disease, the skin is hard scaly plates, cracks appear all over the body where movement occurs, its freaky as hell but despite the grossness i think theres some obscure beauty to it,at least in some of the cases, a lot are..yeah,not pretty.
People with it dont really live that long, and when they do they dont look like this- i merely expanded on the appearance of a couple of pics of dead specemines i've seen online
yeah
grown up dead babies. I didnt use any reference for the distribution of the body cracks because i wanted to see where my mind would take the concept- which is probably why there are far too many of them, less is more, i know this now for next time.
omfg - I have nightmares of harlequinn babies after I saw a real one. Most terrifying thing I have ever seen. I almost through up whenever I even think of it.
At first I was just going to pass this up in my search for HI pictures...then I saw the shoop-da-whoop'd fetus...That wins a buttload of internets. It's brilliant due to those freakish red lips those babies have.
I like how you drew in all the scaly detail of the harlequin skin. The more mature figures of the harlequins, IMO, take away from the frightning look of the fetus itself, but it's an interesting concept nontheless. Nice job.
What you put at the end of your description - Harlequin fetus [GRAPHIC. DO NOT CLICK IF YOUVE JUST EATEN.]- That just made my night.
haha, thanks XD. There is a HUGE fetus version on the actual page thats quite chilling, referenced from an actual pic, that i didnt bother to include with this because its conceptually not all that interesting. I'd have expanded on the idea and perhaps even attempted a colour version, but I dont think that my art tutors would appreciate a sketchbook full of gore ..mabes if im bored one night ill scan in the large fetus and mess about in painter with it.

The butter legion- a socialist movement/mass colab project I started, to trigger artistic change and evolution in Da artists (mainly my watchers), to make them more active and dedicated on DA. Now 170 people strong and growing... A "dangerous cult"? a "new religion"? "artistic version of fight club" or "communist movement"? You decide!
